Whoopi Goldberg, an award winning actress and comedian writes her first marijuana blog for The Cannabist, a Denver based website, revealing how she uses marijuana against pain.
Vaporizers are making headlines everywhere and even an actress as famous as Whoopi Goldberg is going on the record as being a vape user. Whoopi claims she found relief from glaucoma and the debilitating headaches that come with it, by using a vape pen that she comically calls ‘Sippy’.
Whoopi like many medical marijuana users have found that vaporizers are offering solutions for people who can’t or don’t like to smoke.
“These pens are light, compact and portable. The vapor is inoffensive and subtle. And for me a lot of the new pot is too strong — and when I take edibles I rarely come out of the room. With the vape pen, you have more control over how much THC you ingest. If my headache is just starting, I know a short sip will take care of it. If the pressure inside my head is pounding, then two or three sips is a better prescription,” says Whoopi.
Approximately 200,000 Americans suffer from glaucoma, a disorder that causes a build-up of fluid in the eye. The condition damages the optic nerve, causing severe eye and head pain and, over time, vision loss and blindness.
“These glaucoma-induced headaches come on like freight trains — like, BOOM, my head starts hurting, my eyes start bugging, my whole body starts to tense up. But then I find her, and it relaxes everything and calms everything. It helps my head stop hurting, and with glaucoma your eyes ache, and she takes the ache out. It’s wonderful.”
This acclaimed entertainer exclaims that her vape pen literally changed her life. She like many others looking to alleviate her suffering, turned to painkillers for relief with little or no results.
“It’s important for people to know that there are alternatives out there to pain management.”
Whoopi found relief through a vaporizer pen and as she mentioned in her article there are so many different types out there. With the laws changing quickly all over the world, access to legal marijuana and vaporizers could have profound benefits for many people in need.
“I took a sip. It was beautiful. And my pen and I have been together ever since.”
Whoopi Goldberg’s marijuana column will run once every two months.
