The Optimus 510 – also known as the ‘Trippy Stick” – uses a two-component system consisting of the lithium ion Battery and a see-through “cartonizer” refillable cartridge.
The kit arrives in a zip-up, soft-shell carry case (no box) that contains:
- the battery
- optimus cartridge
- USB charger
- user manual
The cartridge is loaded with concentrate oil (after pulling out the plastic mouthpiece) using a syringe bottle. A measuring scale on the side lets you see the amount of oil remaining.
The unique heating element in the chamber heats up your oils evenly and neatly, with a wicking system to prevent leakage or dripping.
Unfortunately we could not get hold of any oil to test the device with but YouTube user videos suggest light, less sticky blends such as Gold work best, that the cartridge takes a while to heat up after which oil vaping is near-instant.
There is an herb attachment available from Atmos but I can’t vouch for it.
In fact the Optimus connects together using a standard threading, so you can also use pre-filled cannabis oil cartridges from dispensaries in the US, or flavored/herbal oil mixes elsewhere. Waxes can also be melted into the heating chamber.
Like the other Atmos pens we’ve seen, the Optimus 510 is well-built, efficient and adaptable, with good easy drawing.
